Online film of the month – November
Panoramica continues to present a film until autumn 2024 together with TriArt Play where the festival offers a handpicked film from TriArt’s fine online archive every month starting from the 9th edition of the festival (28 Sep – 1 Oct).
This month’s film for November is Alê Abreu’s animated The Boy and the World (O mening e o mundo), which Panoramica screened during the first edition of the festival in 2015 as the festival’s children’s and family film. The film will be shown on TriArt Play for 29kr until December. Click on the link below to watch it.
The protagonist of Alê Abreu’s beautiful animated film is a little boy made of paper, living without his father, who has left in search of a job. The boy decides to leave the countryside to find him and the search leads to a carnivalesque fantasy world that is quickly overshadowed by dark clouds where fascist police armies and a society where empty messages from TV and billboards rule over everything and everyone. A complex film that exposes the effects of globalisation on the countryside, from a child’s perspective, while showing Brazil’s history and culture through animations reminiscent of artists such as Joan Miro and Georges Braque.
