Fede, also known as Sombra, lives in an unpaid apartment and mooches electricity from the downstairs neighbor with his roommate and best friend Santos. He considers himself “on strike from the strike” while the local college students are boycotting the National Autonomous University of Mexico. His routine is interrupted when Tomás, his little brother, arrives from Veracruz for a visit. He is looking for the Mexican folkrock legend Epigmenio Cruz. The characters do not seem to have a real purpose, driving all over the city: they move through a series of worlds within the borders of Mexico City, looking for Ana, as well as for the singer whose songs moved Bob Dylan to tears.
