PANORAMICA JURY PRIZE FOR BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM
The Panoramica Award 2017 for best documentary goes to a film we believe is urgent and original. An outstanding sound design and music composition, beautiful low-key photography in combination with an unsynchronized V.O. narration are the means the director uses to immerse us into a cruel and sordid reality.

Mix of a road movie and a nightmare, this visually engaging film takes us into a dreamlike state of mind to expose the testimonies of two women who are victims of the dramatic and complex human trafficking situation in Mexico today.

As a paradox, the film is political and poetic, it is beautiful and painful. It uses movement to show us a search for the truth that seems to be standing still in time. It exposes the overwhelming natural beauty of Mexico as well as the miseries of its reality today.

The winner of Panoramica’s Jury Award for Best Documentary Film 2017 is Tempestad by Tatiana Huezo.

PANORAMICA JURY PRIZE FOR BEST FEATURE FILM
The Panoramica Award 2017 for best fiction goes to a film that makes us confront obsolete parameters of masculinity deeply rooted in many societies of the world, in particular the ones of Latin America.

Inspired in tragic events occurred in Chile in 2012, the film uses stylish meaningful sequences –at times elaborated, at times raw- to portrait two complex but easy to love characters: a disenchanted-with-life father and his gay son, a teenager full of life and dreams.

With great sensitivity, the story juxtaposes youth and innocence with the miseries and cruelties of life. This film reminds us of the importance of storytelling as a tool for greater understanding of ourselves and ultimately of the ones around us.

The winner of Panoramica’s Jury Award for Best Feature Film 2017 is You’ll Never Be Alone by Alex Anwandter.

The Panoramica Film Award consists of 1000 € for each of the awarded films.
