Uruguayan Cinema in Motion: Memory, Tradition, and New Voices
On Saturday, September 27 at 4:00 PM, Panoramica’s first seminar focusing on Uruguayan cinema will take place at Zita Folkets Bio.
Colonialism remains present today in territories, economies, politics, and everyday norms. How does it manifest in Latin America, and what role does cinema play in understanding its impact?
In this seminar, we take as our starting point the documentary Hijo de tigre y mula by director Annie Canavaggio, who joins us for the conversation. The film portrays Panama’s complex path toward self-determination and reveals how colonial power structures continue to shape both societies and the lives of individuals.
Together with the director, we reflect on what colonial occupations mean in practice – from territorial control and military presence to economic dependence and cultural domination.
Sunday 28th of Sept, 16:00, Cinema Klarabiografen. Free entrance upon capacity.
In collaboration with ABF Stockholm.
