Festival 2024
Welcome to the 10th edition of the Stockholm Latin American Film Festival, Panorámica!
For ten years, Panoramica has aimed to become the place where the audience in Stockholm, as well as other parts of Sweden, can discover, explore, and enjoy the best of Latin American cinema. As we celebrate our tenth anniversary, we reflect on this journey filled with cultural experiences, debates, and artistic enjoyment.
Since our humble beginnings in 2015 — which actually go back to 2014 when we introduced the project with a homemade pamphlet — we have managed to become a must-attend event for both cinema lovers and the Latin American diaspora. Over these ten years, the festival has screened more than 180 films, including feature films, documentaries, and short films. We have always strived to maintain a diverse selection in terms of production countries, artistic approaches, and themes, as well as a gender balance. At the same time, we have invited key figures to seminars and other public events. In this way, we have expanded the space for Latin American culture within the Swedish cultural landscape.
To celebrate our 10 years on the festival map, this year we present a wide range of films that reflect the ongoing evolution in Latin America. We are pleased to present the new documentary from the Chilean film collective MAFI, Oasis, as well as a selection of four Argentine films produced in a context where the country’s film production is threatened by severe budget cuts.
There is much to say about this year’s program and these incredible 10 years, but here we just want to thank all the organisations and individuals who have helped us along the way. Without you, Panoramica would never have become the important meeting point for film lovers and Latin American culture enthusiasts that it is today. We are proud to celebrate our tenth anniversary with an exciting and diverse program that we hope will move and enrich you. Welcome to a week full of inspiring films, interesting seminars, and festive gatherings. We look forward to seeing you here for this and many more years to come.

Method and dialogue: The relationship between filmmakers and protagonists in documentaries
How does the relationship between documentary filmmakers and main subjects influence the creation of transparency and truthfulness in documentary films? Every year, documentary filmmakers, funders, festivals, and film scholars dedicate countless hours of debate and work to trying to answer this question. And even though it’s difficult to arrive at exact conclusions, the discussion has made respect and horizontality between those who make documentaries and the people who share their stories in the films increasingly relevant.
Pablo Martinez Pessi and Laura Plancarte, directors of The Snow Between Them and Mexican Dream, discuss about these questions and share insights about the collaborative process with the protagonists of their documentaries.
Saturday the 28th of September, 17:00, Klarabiografen. Free subject to availability.
In collaboration with ABF Stockholm.
Webinar: CCDoc-Chiledoc and the Chilean documentary film boom
There is no doubt that Chilean documentary film is today one of the most relevant in the world. With dozens of titles produced in recent years (20 titles produced in 2023 alone), an exemplary artistic and thematic diversity and quality, countless awards, and a constant presence at the most prestigious festivals, we look with admiration at the work of Chilean filmmakers and organizations.
What strategies have been used to achieve this growth, and what role does the political and social context play? Representatives from the CCDoc-ChileDoc organization participate in an online discussion to reflect on these questions, using the documentaries Malqueridas and Oasis as examples for analysis.
Sunday the 29th of September, 17:15, Klarabiografen. Free subject to availability.
In collaboration with ABF Stockholm.
