The legacy of colonialism remains present in Latin America through land conflicts, power structures, and everyday norms. How is this made visible today – and what role can cinema play in understanding it?
This seminar takes its point of departure from the documentary Hijo de tigre y mula by Panamanian director Annie Canavaggio, who will also join the conversation.
Together with the director, we reflect on what colonial occupations mean in practice – from territorial control and military presence to economic dependency and cultural dominance.
