Silence in Dreamland

About the film

Silence in Dreamland (Silencio en la tierra de los sueños, 2014) focuses on a single unnamed elderly widow, who spends her days in a quiet old house where silence and loneliness reign. The routine is broken when a lovable dog appears in front of her window. Throughout the film we witness her go through her daily tasks such as sewing, ironing, watching TV and making her bed. Only in her dreams she runs away from those four walls to a timeless magic land where the calm ocean waves take her to a higher level of peaceful serenity. Through an observational rhythm, partly disrupted by quick cuts that indicate brief dream interludes, the director focuses on details as her pulse and breathing to create an intimate portray of the woman.
