For twelve years, Chilean director and photographer Iván Blanco has followed Douglas “Dogge Doggelito” León, one of Swedish hip-hop’s most iconic voices. As the frontman of The Latin Kings, he became a symbol of a new Sweden in the 1990s, with roots in the suburbs and Latin American culture.
Malandro Moon is a warm, raw and deeply human portrait of a man who once carried the dreams of an entire generation—and who is still celebrated, mocked and completely impossible to ignore.
The film, which was awarded the Dragon Award for Best Nordic Documentary at the Gothenburg International Film Festival earlier this year, premieres in cinemas on September 25 at Cinema Skandia (Drottninggatan 82).
