About the film
The film is set in 1999, when the sixteen-year-old dreamer Juampi, is dropped off to the remote family hacienda for the Carnival holidays in the Andes. His uncle Jorge is involved in a corruption scandal and has taken refuge with his wife and teenage children. During a carnival party, uncle Jorge and his staff surprise a couple of guys stealing hubcaps. While one of them is catched and beaten, the other, Juano, escapes with Juampi’s help. Holiday (Feriado, 2014), Diego Araujo’s first feature film, shows a tale of a teen on vacation where a friendship can develop into a fragile romance and where hesitant observational silences highlight a young mixture of timidity and curiosity which says as much about vulnerability as it does about desire.
