Festival Producer’s Picks!
Alan Steín is one of Panoramica’s founders, the festival’s Artistic Director, and part of the trio behind the program selection.
Ahead of the 11th edition of Stockholm’s Latin American Film Festival · Panoramica, he shares his film tips you won’t want to miss:
A Bright Future
A dystopia with outstanding aesthetics and performances. Unlike most films of the genre, it is not driven by weapons, violence, or oppression, but instead presents itself as a slyly conformist system almost everyone follows voluntarily and almost everyone controls. Something very close to what we experience today.
Memories of a Burning Body
A documentary with elegant treatment, editing, and aesthetics that tackles a highly taboo subject in Costa Rican society: stories of sexuality among older adults.
La falla
A beautiful portrait of childhood that gives us insight into children’s worlds in terms of abandonment, access to education, and the joys and frustrations of a rural school in Mexico.
Kill The Jockey
Kill The Jockey may stand out for its aesthetics and soundtrack, but it is much more than that. It’s a film that asks the viewer to complete it. Themes of death and rebirth, embodied in eccentric characters, help us to either understand or simply enjoy Argentine uniqueness.
